No, I did not make a mistake naming the pattern! Naming anything can be hard. I came up with this playful word,”Totelly”. Not bad for a tote bag, right? There are going to be more tote patterns under the same name hence the number 1.


The bag is worked in rounds, in mosaic knitting. The size is adjustable. The charts are also given in reversed colours for ease of use in case you decide to swap the light and dark colours in your bag.

 

The sample was made in Aran / Worsted / 10 ply recycled cotton yarn, Knitting Essentials Natura Cotton. A lurex thread was carried with a contrasting colour to add some sparkle. Different yarn weights and fibres can be used but this affects the size of the bag and the amount of yarn needed.

Aran / Heavy Worsted / 10ply

100 gr / 3.5 oz = 150 m / 164 yards.

MC 150(200) g / 5.3(7.1) oz = 225(300) m / 246(328) yards

CC 120(150) g / 4.2(5.3) oz = 180(225) m / 197(246) yards


Needles & Notions

·        3.5 mm / US 4 60 cm / 24” circular needles for the mosaic

·        3 mm / US 2 ½ 60 cm / 24” circular needles for the top edge, bottom, and straps

·        3 mm / US 2 ½ double-pointed needle for 3-needle bind-off

·        2 stitch markers

·        Tapestry needle

·        Pins

Gauge

21 stitches x 42 rnds = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4”

in the mosaic pattern (motif) at the front after blocking.

 

21 stitches x 47 rnds = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4”

in the dotted mosaic pattern at the back after blocking.
