The placemat & coaster are worked in mosaic garter stitch.
Mosaic knitting is an easy way to create striking colourwork. Mosaic knitting is perfect for beginners who are attempting colourwork for the first time. Just knit and slip stitches, one colour at time. There are ZERO purl stitches needed. Directions are given how to work mosaic.
The pattern is fully charted and written out.
Yarn
Fingering / 4 ply.
100 g / 3.53 oz = 330 m / 361 yards
Approximate amounts:
• Placemat
MC and CC 45 g / 1.6 oz = 150 m / 164 yards of each colour
• Coaster
MC and CC 10 g / 0.35 oz = 33 m / 36 yards of each colour
Choosing different yarn weight and corresponding needle size results in different size placemat/coaster and may require more yarn.
