ViruNigula - PDF knitting pattern
The Viru-Nigula pattern is the fifth pattern in the collection inspired by a rich heritage of Estonian national costumes. The pattern was inspired by a woven belt collected from Mahu village in Viru-Nigula Parish of Estonia in 1913.
The other blanket patterns in the series released to date are the Urvaste, the Peetri, the Tartu and the Hanila.

The blanket is worked in one piece in a mosaic garter stitch, one of the easiest colourwork techniques. The mosaic might look intricate but fear not; it is fun and easy to make. Just one colour is used at a time no need to carry both yarns. Work two rows in one colour, then two rows in another colour, slipping stitches to create the pattern.
Different yarn weights and fibres can be used. Using different fibres affects the size of the blanket and the amount of yarn needed.
The pattern is tech-edited and test knitted.
The pattern uses metric and imperial systems.
The mosaic pattern is charted and written out. The chart is also given in reversed colours for ease of use in case you decide to swap the light and dark colours in your blanket.
